Tape Eject Sticking at DVinfo.net

I have searched the forum and while some problems are similar I haven't found the exact problem I'm having. I have missed the solution please point me there.

Intermittently, when ejecting a tape, the mechanism lifts but won't pop open. I can see the mechanism trying to open but it appears stuck. Trying a second, third etc time doesn't change the situation. I know this probably isn't good but if I time it right (when the mechanism seems to be trying to open the door) I can get a fingernail behind it and pop it open.

I am about to take the camera apart and clean the zoom rocker, as mentioned in other threads, as the camera has started zooming on it's own accord. Aaargh. I was wondering if there was anything I could do while I have it apart to fix the other problem mentioned above.
