version 5.2.1 issues

just bought the new neo scene 5 (since I have moved to CS5) and am having some issues. I will open a support case, but I thought I would post this incase it's something other CF users have encountered or if there is something I can do.

Camera: HMC-150: avchd files
PC: AMD Phenom X6, Win7 64 (all latest drivers and updates), 8GB ram
HD link is reading from and converting to a dedicated NTFS hard drive
Build 279

1) first, I am getting several Got EC_ERRORABORT notification - 0x80040228 notices from the CF log
2) everytime I run NeoScene, the file "msdia80.dll" gets saved to the drive set to the target directory. I read up on this and found a microsoft doc that said this has to do with Microsoft Visual C++ (which CF installed during the setup)
3) HD link will not remember where I set the target directory to. It keeps using the drive I first set it to after installing. If I try to change it to drive G, it still converts all files to drive H.
4) the online manual is out of date- it does not describe what the "I frames only" function does.

I did try uninstalling and reinstalling Neo Scene but it did not help.
Any ideas?

Some of us are having various problems with the latest CF release.
You can see more in this thread:

hooray- they were able to repoduce the error :) For now I have to edit raw avchd :(

Re- the target directory issue, this was user error. I forgot to check the box marked "use target directory". Once checked it will save the CF avi files wherever you want. If not checked, I guess it saves to your default capture directory (the once chosen during the install). I found that one on my own.

I get those EC_ERRORABORT notification - 0x80040228 all the time.

I have tried support, but no result.

If it was'nt for Firstlight, I think I would give up!

As there a now hundred of camera models, we can not guess what the error means without know more about the source -- that is why you should always file a trouble ticket. The error is not a CineForm message but a report from Windows DirectShow. A quick seach on 0x80040228 seems to be audio related. Look at you AC3 filter settings or your in-camera options:

I-frame means all you frame a stored separately -- that is best for some NLEs (Vegas in particular.) However you can a save a little with it off. Either way is fully compatible with all tools, and quality is equivalent. We need to offer the setting as 3D is I-frame only.
