Historical picture in docs

Hi guys, i wanted to know your opinion on the moves Pan & tilt on the historical picture(of war for example).Any video example? The movement should start at hte beginning and finish at the end(keyframing) of the pic or should end a little bit early?
Thank a lot

I think it all depends on the amount of pictures you will use in a sequence.
If every pictures is moving all the time and there are alot, I usually tend to get a little sea sick while watching it.
If you want to see a good way for incorporating stills into a documentary, may I suggest watching the Dogtown docu. Loved the way they made their stills dynamic.

Check out Ken Burns "Civil War". In the US pan and scan of photos is referred to as "Burns effect". The basic convention with regard to frame movement, assuming you want an invisible cut: Match the movement/motion blur in the last frames of the outgoing clip and the first frames of the incoming.

YouTube - Ken Burns Civil War 1864 (Part 20)

i was looking KEN BURNS stuff but i can't see the blur at the very beginning and at the end of the pics. What about his workflow? How many keyframe does he use on a single picture to obtain that strange NYPD BLUE effect on the pics?

thx a lot

Marcus, check the tutorial from Ken Stone's Final Cut Pro and click on Ken Burns redux. The last method is so easy (even I can do it), that it doesn't make any sense to avoid pans and zooms.
