how to organize workflow for such project?

Hello,

Need to figure out which is the best way to edit a poker tv show with two editors on two computers. Basic task management:

STAGE 1,
EDITOR A edits the base of the show, from 2h raw footage into 30min. Basically cuts down from 2h into 30min, leaving in only most interesting hands/footage.

STAGE 2,
when the base of the show is edited, EDITOR B gets the project file or rendered video file and starts adding hole card animations(no cutting involved, length of clip remains same).
While editor B is working on card animations, EDITOR A continues editing, cutting in interviews between shots and some flashbacks. Also some primary color/sound correction.

STAGE 3,
Now when both editors have finished, their outcome has to be added into one project:
EDITOR A edited the base(30min), cut interviews between(10min), corrected color and sound.
EDITOR B added card and text animations to base part(30min one). So if we add these together we get 40-45min complete show.

Main argument is time. Two editors can't wait behind each other(except stage 1), they need to work at the same time

My question is, how they should transfer their work(rendered file/project) between each other during different work stages. And eventually how to add everything into one.

The only solution I could think of is fallowing: After Stage 1, EDITOR A renders out the 30min file onto external hard drive. EDITOR B imports file and starts adding animations. Then EDITOR A creates new project, imports 30min rendered file and cuts interviews between, makes color correction and adds intros/outros. Now when EDITOR B is done, renders out the file with the same name, EDITOR A replaces file in timeline. Now both editors work outcome should be on one timeline. - Why I don't like this way: a lot of rendering and copy on/off harddrives.

I was planning to use 2 Mac computers for this(one Macbook pro, other one Mac pro). I have edited 95% of project on PC, so I dont have any clue about programms/systems available on Mac.

Help appreciated!
