MPEG Streamclip Audio

What is the optimal setting for the audio when you import a DVHSCap file into MPEG Streamclip and want to export it as a quicktime file that can be edited in final cut fairly easily but with good quality?

Thanks,
Sharon

48Khz, 16 bit, stereo

Sharon Pieczenik March 14th, 2007 06:32 PM

16 bit is not an option. The options are:

uncompressed
IMA 14:1
MPEG-4 AAC
AMR Narrow
MPEG Layer 2
No Sound

Is one of the above another way of saying "16 bit?" I don't want "No Sound." And I believe MPEG-4 would be for website stuff. Otherwise, not sure what it all means and which one to pick.

Thanks,
Sharon

I know when I used mpeg2 audio converting an mpeg2 to dv it had no sound so i had to go back and convert again with the audio uncompressed and it worked, but I find the volume is really loud after the conversion.

My clip in final cut has no sound and I used Uncompressed. Maybe I should use mpeg 2? I will try that unless someone else has some words of advice.

Use uncompressed.

But twice there was no sound. Is the problem occurring when I make m2t file with DVHSCap?

I don't think I will ever be able to edit this.

Also, I still can't seem to get an image off my DV tape onto final cut. I really am lost as to what is going on. I have tried every Capture Preset and Firewire derivative I can think of.

Hi Vince,

I had this problem as well and posted the solution in this thread. Hope it solves the problem.
