Manual for sony vx3

Hello does anyone have a manual for the sony vx3 hi8 camera? I was wondering if someone could photocopy me some of the more inportant features. I bought the camera off ebay and of course its used so no manual. It is the first camera I am using that has all the manual features. It is a bit daunting to try and learn to use it with out instructions. I tried Sony web site but can't find any help there.

Thanks guys

Daniel

Planning a commercial and may need a DP with gear

I'm in pre on a commercial in Central FL area. I'm using the HD100U(A). Posting this note a little early but I may be needing a DP with gear and knowledge of the HD100U to assist. Unfortunately, at the time of this post it's a no pay, just food and a copy. Can shoot it in a day. Very basic shots but want the widescreen, filmlook. Since there is a chance that I will be needing a DP, I wanted to post to see if there would be any interest. Lighting is of course so important and I prefer to have someone to help than me attempt to wear too many hats.

All projects in the planning stage are Christian/family oriented. In the future to be shot is a true story documentary and a 30 minute program idea that I am exploring.

Anyway, drop me a note if you can help or just to converse.

Best,
Lisa

San Diego - Rock-n-Roll Marathon

SHOOTER AVAILABLE

I'll be coming to San Diego to accompany a family member who is running the Marathon on June 4.

Anyone producing a video on the event? Need a good shooter?

Would prefer travel light and use your camera/sticks. If necessary, I can bring a GL-2, but don't want to carry a tripod on the flight.

Looking for modest compensation.

A big favor

I need to call upon the huge community to help me achieve a goal and of course I do thank you in advance.

I need help.

I want to be able to place my video segments (30 minutes at a time- apx 50 hours total) on the web using Flash. I need a web company that knows far more than I do about Flash, Pay Pal etc.... I can shoot and edit, I need the other side of that equation. I can give the finished product to them but need help from here after.

Any ideas...leads...friends etc...? The quality must be 'the standard by which the industry is judged."

Please advise...Mike

Please explain?!?

Hi Michael,

Sorry mate, I'm slightly confused by your post!

1. You say you need the "community" to help you out, but later say you need a "web company"? Why not just contact one of the billion major web design companies out there? In Australia, I recommened Think First (www.thinkfirst.com.au). If you're handling all the video side of things - all you really need is a webdesign/e-commerce system I would think?

2. By writing "Pay Pal", I'm presuming you are selling your product? Even more of a reason to just contact a web design company.

3. I don't know much about Flash, but I don't think that it's the best way to "show off" video footage. Quicktime or RealPlayer would be much more appropriate I would think? Or do you mean that you want to make the web site in Flash?

I think it would be easier to help you out if you explain what you want to actually achieve a bit better. What's the end result/product?

However, from what you've written, and if I make a few presumptions I would suggest filming all your "stuff", contacting a web firm that specialises in "video streaming" and "e-commerce" (Google will return hundreds of results - maybe consult a webdesign forum for advice), send them a copy of your footage at "best" quality and let them "do there thing".

If you require specific help on the technical aspects of exporting your footage from your NLE to a format suitable for the web, then this is definatily the place to ask!

www.atomsfilms.com is probably a site worth visting (and the "company" site www.atomentertainment.com).

A good starting point would be: http://www.google.com.au/search?q=we...en-US:official.

Anyway, good luck with your project! Hopefully we can be of some assistance!

Later!

Chris!

The highest quailty would be with WMV-9(VC-1) or h.264.

The two best options I think you have are to use Google Video to sell you movie. You upload, they compress, post and deal with trasnactions and stuff. I haven't dealt with them so I don't know what its like to be on the seller end.

The other option is a WMV DRM server company. This way it protects your content and offers really high quaility. You will need to probably get a website done with payment methods and all sorts of stuff.

Wish you luck!

Clarify

Thank you already for the post. Here are some specific questions.
1.) Best/easiest video format? I believe Flash is because it is in each browser and the end user does not have to download. The video is strong and not jittery. Check out http://www.northpoint.org/sermons. I like the design in that it allows to to watch and purchase.

2.) How to uplooad/maintain site. I will need to be able to control and manage my site by putting new programs on it. A Yahoo type company may be to big. I need a boutique type and am willing to pay for it.

3.) continue with the links you feel are helpful. I am devouring them all trying to get up to speed. Compression, loading, size... these are all new terms. Well, size isn't a new term!

Mike

Keith, have you checked into the "DVD and Web Video Delivery" forum right here at DVInfo? It's a message board devoted to just your questions.

Hello from DC

Hello, I'm new to this forum and wanted find out what people here are interested in. I'm putting finishing touches on a short script (approx 15-25 min). I'm accumulating gear. I've got a partner who'll DP the project, I'll be directing. I have 25 years experience in television news -- mostly graphics and design and animation. To direct some short films has been a dream of mine forever -- now with the gear and the web, it's actually within my reach.

This project is (I'm sure you've read it before) NO CASH. I can not pay, so what I'm looking for are young people who have ambition, reliability, and want to learn. It will be a small crew. Here's what I'm looking for right now:

1 to 2 audio people
1 to 2 continity/script supervisor/shot logger
1 grip/lighting assistant

More to come if this project gets off the ground. I want you to get the most out of this project that you can -- I'm willing to give you as much -- short of cash -- that I can give, all that I ask in return is your ambition and dedication to filmmaking.

Email me if interested.

Thanks for listening.

Hi Michael,

1. Again, I don't know much about distributing video via Flash, but I can confirm that Flash is simply a plug-in. End users DO have to download it. But that's not an issue at all. It's seemless in most browsers and on most operating systems.

2. Sounds like you need a "content management system" (CMS). This is basically a password protected website that lets you easily change certain aspects of the site (update text, add pictures, etc.). This way you don't have to learn anything technical. Search for "what is a CMS" in Google for more info.

3. I would hope "compression" isn't a new term if you're into video editing!

My suggestion would be, seeing as you like the "North Point" is to contact the people who made it. Their website is: http://www.galaxybright.com.

As Keith said, Google Video is another option (probably your best option!). Visit: http://video.google.com/support and read the FAQs...

Good luck!

Chris!
