use of SXS recorder on early gy hd series

Is the only reason that you can't use the docking plate KA-UM100G and the SXS recorder on earlier GYHD models like the 101 series that there is no provision for holding the plate on the back of the camera and if you could work out a way of holding the plate via a home made adaptor could you then use the SXS module??

Here's the JVC page on the SXS recorder. It works on the HD200 and HD250, with differences. The information is in the specs:
JVC Professional Features page

Not clear if it would work on the HD110, but it is clear JVC does not intend that.

Note: It requires the adapter to put it on the HD200/250.

Note that it only works on the newer HD200UB and not the HD200U.
I know. I asked. I cried (well, almost...)

I can't even tell how this unit gets its signal from the camera. I originally thought it was via IEEE-1394 (in which case it would theoretically work with the HD1xx series if you could find a way to carry/attach it.)

But it seems it taps into an internal (propietary?) connector on the HD2xx series somehow.

So, aside from the reliability of solid state vs. hard drive (i.e., firestore) does the SXS module offer any advantages over a firestore-type device in regards to bitrate or codec or image quality?
