Low-Light Filming w/ Panasonic HDC-HS100

I am filming a very short film for a student competition, and one of the scenes calls for very low lighting (streetlamps filtering through venetian blinds). The characters in this scene must be at least partially illuminated. I filming with a Panasonic HDC-HS100, and the test runs thus far have been less than spectacular. The shots are usually quite grainy (although we haven't boosted the iso) and the contrast isn't all that great. A lot of this may be due to our inexperience with filming in general, so I have come here.

We get the best results using manual controls (HDC-HS100 has pretty nice ones), setting white balance low and turning the image stabilization (the OIS thing) off. This may be the best we can get (I'll upload/link to stills as soon as possible), and perhaps we'll have to try and get it right in post.

That being said, I am very interested to any more learned input on this situation. If anyone has any tips or suggestions, or would like me to provide more information, I would be very happy to. Thanks,

-Tyler
