Delivery formats

I started hijacking another thread adking about S-VHS and I thought it be best to start a new thread for just delivery formats.

Given the following situations what would be the most reasonable format to deliver a finished product in:

~ Something for the cable company to broadcast
~ Weddings and events
~ Something that needs to be transfered to film

From what I understand S-VHS has a better look, but only played on a S-VHS deck. Who's going to have one of those? It's just a lot of cash for a deck when I could get a stereo VCR for 1/10 the price.

I did some searching through threads and couldn't find much on what format was best for what so any and all related info on this subject would be welcome.

For transfer to film I think it depends on what company is doing
the film transfer for you, check with them. Most people who
do weddings etc. deliver on VHS tapen and more and more on
DVD. Perhaps VCD is an option too in some cases but I don't think
that format is very popular outside of Europe!

I think more and more cable companies accept DV tape as well.
Otherwise you need to transfer to Betacam I think which transfer
companies can do as well
