Re: Anyone here using YN-300/YN-300II's for weddings?

Hi Dave,

My YN300 IIs came with remotes. Did your YN300 not include a remote?

Yes, that right, I use two YN600s on light stands near the speaker system to add light on the dance floor for the...

Re: Anyone here using YN-300/YN-300II's for weddings?

Okay, that makes perfect sense. I would never put a YN600 on a camera. We use them on light stands. Most of our packages are multi camera dslr, and we do not use on camera lighting with those. One...

Re: Anyone here using YN-300/YN-300II's for weddings?

Hi Al,

Why do you feel that the YN600 is not portable enough for weddings? We use them for weddings all of the time. I love the remote for not only turning on and off, but adjusting the...

Re: Lighting and Audio: £1000 ($1600) - What do you do?!

I have skimmed through the replies and you have been given good advice. There is not really just one right way to get audio at the wedding and reception. Some use wireless systems and some use pocket...

Re: Advice on new camera

The 6D and 5D Mk3 are a huge step up in low light abilities over the T3i. I have owned the T2i, T3i, 60D, 70D, 6D and 5D Mk3, so trust me, that statement is from personal experience.

Canon's...

Re: Yongnuo YN600 Pro Dual Temperature LED Video Light Review

Great post. I bought a couple of the YN300 IIs a few months ago. I had been using the 312AS LEDs and sold both of the 312s for more than the two YN300 IIs. The YN300 II is much more indoor color...

Re: 6D with 24-105 f/4

Hi Kren,

You are welcome. Since making the switch I do use more Canon L glass, but I still use several vintage lenses from time to time with the Mk3/6D. Primarily a Nikon 35mm 1.4, a Zeiss 50mm...

Re: 6D with 24-105 f/4

Hi Chris,

Thanks for pointing that out. My mistake. It should have said 6D instead of 60D. I just changed it.

Why do you prefer the 6D of the Mk3 for weddings? I actually prefer the Mk3 for...

Re: My favorite lens - Canon DSLR shooter

For outdoor ceremonies, I really like the Vivitar Series 1 70-210 3.5. The image looks incredible. The draw backs are a lack of image stabilization and it's not para focal. Another vintage zoom I...

Re: 6D with 24-105 f/4

Hi Kren,

We shot weddings with 60Ds before upgrading to a couple of 5D Mk3s and a 6D. The low light performance of the Mk3 and 6D is just about identical. Maybe a very slight edge to the 6D.

Re: 60D Owner Needing Recommendations

I agree with adding a fast lens in the 30-35mm range would be good. One of the negatives about the Sigma 30mm is that it is APS-C, which means you can't use it on a full frame camera. If you go with...

Re: Royalty Free Wedding Music

Hi Kyle,

I don't know of any music sets for weddings. About the closest thing I know of is a music creation program called Smart Sound. You don't have to know much about music and it will allow...

Re: Change to full frame better or same as crop

Earlier this year I went from using Canon 60Ds to 2 5DMk3s and a 6D. The Mk3s and 6D blow away the 60D in low light and with the Mk3, you can say good bye to moire. If moire isn't an issue with you,...

Re: Focus with DSLRs

Hi Cuong,

Thanks for introducing me to the dual eye magnifier. Trisha and I really enjoyed our little visit with you and seeing your gear.

Re: Cinematographer ? what's that ?

Just me, personally, I have been too hung up on titles, but as a business owner, I realize words convey an image in marketing my business.

About 10 years ago clients told us that our wedding...

Re: Focus with DSLRs

Hi Andrew,

When we first got our Mk3s and 6D I bought a couple of Carryspeed VF-3 viewfinders. I mainly wanted them for shooting outdoor wedding ceremonies. I really like the way the eye piece...

Re: Focus with DSLRs

Hi Adrian,

I have not used the Zacuto. From what I have seen, you have to get very close to the Z-finder, and I prefer to see what is going on outside of the frame as well. With the magnifier from...

Focus with DSLRs

Setting focus with DSLRs while shooting with a narrow to medium Depth of Field can be a little tricky, but the real challenge is keeping focus when the subject moves. Shooting the processional and...

Re: First Dance Music / Blown Out Bass in recording

When I shoot a reception with DSLRs, I place a mic near the speakers that feeds a signal to an H4n. I use an XLR splitter so I can spread the signal to both left and right, but I run one channel...

Re: Canon 6D - Good enough upgrade from a t3i for weddings?

The moire does bother me, but most brides don't even notice it. There are some subjects like bricks, tile roofs, wood and even some clothing that the moire would really jump out on the 60D, but in...

Re: Canon 24-105 f4 vs Tamron 24-70 f2.8

How ironic that neither of us have been posting very much here lately and then we both answer the same question in about the same way. You beat me to the punch and I didn't even know it until I...

Re: Canon 24-105 f4 vs Tamron 24-70 f2.8

I do not have any experience with the Tamron, but I do own a couple of the Canon 24-105 f4 lenses. I love the 24-105 and use it quite a bit during the wedding day. I wouldn't want to shoot with an f4...

Re: Canon 6D - Good enough upgrade from a t3i for weddings?

Until April of this year, I shot with the Canon 60Ds, which is very similar to the t3i. I then upgraded to a couple of Mk3s and a 6D. About 90% or our business is weddings.

The 6D is a major step...

Re: Can anyone recommend a good slider?

I love the DP Sliders, both the Standard and Mantis, but to be totally honest, I have not used any other sliders. The tough thing about buying online is not being able to get your hands on the gear...
