Re: guys i have to tell you: the D7100 is coming.....

As I expected, a totally useless response from Nikon on this issue:

Dear Mr. Bird,

Thank you for contacting Nikon. I do apologize for any inconvenience. In regards of this issue, we cannot...

Re: guys i have to tell you: the D7100 is coming.....

Yep. It's a problem with the file format.

Today I dropped a few "60i" files from the cameras into Compressor and looked at them in the inspector. The inspector thinks they are 59.94 progressive...

The Nikon D7100 has a completely flawed 60i format

I just bought a pair of D7100 cameras and there is a huge problem with the 60i video mode. The 30p mode looks good and sharp, and acts as it should when converted to AIC or ProRes or whatever, and...

Re: Hoping for pro-res on the hyperdeck soon

I too have been hoping for ProRes on the Hyperdeck and have sent several e-mails to the engineering staff on the importance of this format. I would like to think they listened--because here it is.

Re: Unexpected Surprise: PMW-200 Audio!

Another tip is that if you run channels 1&2 with separate sources, (i.e. lav and shotgun) and AGC on, remember to go into the menu and separate the AGC to mono. The camera can pair the AGC as stereo...

Re: At half the price of a 1-chip PMW-100, anyone used an HM-150 XDCAM with an EX1?

I see what you mean.

This generation of people who are obsessed with limited depth of field probably have a lot of footage out of focus, that's all I can say. I have a hard enough time getting a...

Unexpected Surprise: PMW-200 Audio!

Hey Gang,
I have been playing with my new PMW-200 and we shot our first professional gig with it yesterday. I started transferring footage this morning and what a pleasant surprise: the camera...

Re: A few pointers for using XQD cards with PMW-200

Exactly. And Sony never mentions the XQD driver requirement anywhere on their site that I could find! They only talk about the SxS driver and the UDF driver. Without the XQD driver, you are hosed!

Re: A few pointers for using XQD cards with PMW-200

BTW, Sony has an instant rebate for $50 on 32 GB XQD cards right now, making them only $179. Still a lot of coin for a card, but a lot better than they were a couple weeks ago, and way cheaper than...

Re: sony sxs adapter/sandisk card

I have had no problems with any class 10 cards I have used. I only buy quality cards (Lexar/Sandisk) so I haven't experimented with the ultra-cheapies.

Re: A few pointers for using XQD cards with PMW-200

It is important to note that you must install the V2.0 of the UDF driver because this is the one that supports XQD cards.

Sony | Micro Site XDCAM...

Re: Footage into FCP7

Thanks for the tips. I wonder if Sony could make it any more clunky?

I spent hours trying to make the new Log and Transfer plugin work (V1.2 for FCP7 that is supposed to work with UDF formatted...

Re: At half the price of a 1-chip PMW-100, anyone used an HM-150 XDCAM with an EX1?

Small sensors have MORE depth of field than large ones, not the other way around. It's low light performance than suffers with small sensors.

A few pointers for using XQD cards with PMW-200

After a little bit of frustration today, I finally got my 32 GB XQD card (in SxS adapter) running in the Expresscard slot of my MacBook Pro. I thought I would just post a few pointers and possibly...

Similar problem here. I just got a PMW-200. Have been using the EX1 for years with FCP 7 and Log and Transfer. I have downloaded the latest FAM driver and the latest (V.1.2) Log and Transfer...

Re: Rewrap vs AIC for TM700 video

I have a few technical questions about 1080/60p in FCP7.

Obviously, I realize that this format is not a delivery format. However, it could be very useful to shoot in 60p because the footage (as...

Re: Downloadable HM700 35Mbps clips for testing in your NLE

Thanks for posting that footage. I would love to see some from the new 710 with the Canon lens. That Fujinon is not doing the camera any justice. The chromatic aberration towards the edge of the...

Re: Perplexing FCP Log and Transfer issue with XDCAM

Thanks Don!

As it turns out, Sony is very unhelpful in telling people what is required for XDCAM. The "XDCAM Transfer" application is implied in their website to be the app required for FCP but...

Perplexing FCP Log and Transfer issue with XDCAM

Hi Everyone,
I have a problem that is driving me nuts and I'm hoping one of you XDCAM experts can tell me what is up.

I have a drive full of XDCAM footage, copied from SxS cards. The footage has...
