Re: (back?) focus issue?

So, it turns out it was an issue with the Metabones smart adapter.

I took my camera and adapter to Abel today and had a technician look at it.
There were two screws on the adapter which had...

Re: (back?) focus issue?

Hi Bo-Ming. I have the smart adapter, not the Speed Booster. You are correct in that I cannot focus to infinity, but closer distances are ok (I can't get a good focus more than about 2-3 meters or...

Re: (back?) focus issue?

no, my adapter is the straight "smart" adapter. No speed boost.
I've had it and the camera for a few months, and just now noticed this issue.

(back?) focus issue?

I'm having a weird focus issue with some of my Canon (all L-series) lenses on my Sony FS-700 (via the Metabones adapter).

My 70-200mm is fine, no focus issues at any focal length.

My 24-70mm...

Re: Issues shooting at 50hz in the US?

Thanks Chris. I should have tested before I posted. As I changed shutter speed, it was very obvious even in the LCD that changing the shutter speed dealt with the flicker issue.

I will say...

Issues shooting at 50hz in the US?

I know this is not a question specific to the FS700, but that is the camera I will be using, so I guess this is a good place to start.

I am shooting tomorrow in the US for a client based in Asia,...

Re: EVF delay is killing me

hmmmm....interesting.

Usually on these events, the producer hands my a set of cards at the beginning of the shoot and leaves with them at the end, so I'd have to find a workaround for that.

Re: EVF delay is killing me

Thanks Ted. I will have to look into Black Magic a little more. I've always been a little nervous to install a third party software.

How difficult is it to reinstall the original Canon software...

EVF delay is killing me

I'm sure this is probably an issue that has been discussed ad nauseam for years, but I just started using my Mark II to shoot events (weddings, parties, etc.) and am just now starting to deal with...

Re: FS700 lens support?

Hey Kirk - Curious how "high" that item can adjust to? I bought a similar piece from another manufacturer, but it doesn't actually reach my lenses when I am on my rods (I have a quick release plate...

Re: Thoughts on rigs/rods/stabilization?

Here is the set up I ended up going with if anyone is interested.

Zacuto base plate and rods and Shape handles and shoulder pad.

I added a Vocas offset piece so the shoulder pad is offset...

Re: Thoughts on rigs/rods/stabilization?

Yeah, I really had my heart set on the Movcam rig, but when I realized I'd have to pay another $1300 or so for an EVF in order to be able to use it with my camera, I kind of lost interest.

I need...

Re: Monitor question / recs?

yes, I agree. I put my deposit down on one a few days ago, I'm a little wary about buying a monitor that no one has seen, but it sounds really nice, at least on paper. and I'm excited about the...

Thoughts on rigs/rods/stabilization?

I am definitely in the market for a base plate and some rods. I'm using Canon lenses via the Metabones adapter, and I don't feel comfortable having some of my longer lenses (specifically something...

Re: Expanded focus

glad to hear a positive review of the Movcam rig. I've had my eye on it, but have been waiting to hear from someone who has at least actually seen it before buying. I think I'm going to hold out,...

Re: Removing the LCD Screen

it's an interesting thought, but If the cost is equal, why not leave the LCD and buy EVF?
that way you would have both if you ever need backup, etc., and not have to worry about voiding the...

Re: Are you tired of seeing slow-mo footage yet?

Hey Dave - I'm not a particularly technical person, but I think it's mostly an issue of sensor size. In fact, I don't even own the kit lens. (I found this article about why larger sensors are...

Re: Monitor question / recs?

Thanks John. I don't think I'm necessarily looking for a powered viewfinder. I'm sure it would be useful in certain situations, and ultimately, I probably need a few products - a powered...

Re: Monitor question / recs?

Thanks guys. Looks like Small HD has a 7" coming out in the Fall that is going to only weigh about one lbs. I may hold out for that one.

Monitor question / recs?

Maybe this isn't the appropriate place to ask this sort of thing, and I apologize if it isn't....

I am in a market for a monitor, and had a question. Also, I was wondering what others were using,...

Re: Basic questions about FS700 zoom lens options

I've been using the Canon 70-200mm 2.8L (version 1), via the Metabones adapter.

I recently purchased this lens used. The new version (version II), is supposedly sharper, but cost $1000 more than...

Re: Are you tired of seeing slow-mo footage yet?

That was actually shot with the Canon 70-200mm 2.8L (version 1).
Luckily those buggers like to stay in one place and chill out, so it was easy to focus on and capture them.
I actually had to wave...

Did somebody say 2 bugs getting frisky?

Re: Question about SD card versus Memory Stick

I've shot for years on the EX-1, always using SD cards (via MXR smart card readers). The issue for me was always been cost. A 32gb SxS is still $400, which a 32gb series 10 SD card is about $30. ...
