DIY BPAV Files - is there such an animal?

When I had a Panny HVX200 I remember someone posting a fix for lost "Last Clip" files on the P2. Is it possible to create or adapt you own BPAV folder files on the EX1?

I run a G5 PPC, so I don't have Clip Browser.

No - in fact (to my amazement) it works perfectly!

Here's my workflow:

Downloaded XDCAM Transfer (2.8) from Sony - installed and restarted the Mac.

Set in and out points on my FCP timeline.

File > Sony XDCAM

Chose: (Blank Formatted) Untitled SxS card (in my Sony SBAC US10 reader).

Chose Format: MP4 (XDCAM EX)

Chose Settings: (XDCAM EX 1080p25)

Hit the Export button.

Export Complete - Replaced Card in EX1 and Set it in VTR mode.
Restored Media.

Clip appeared in LCD - hit play . . .

IT WORKS!
Played back perfectly on the EX1

I had assumed you had some MP4's without the rest of the folder structure, certainly the transfer tool can now create new MP4's.

XDCAM and Mac's offer the best workflow I have ever used. It just works, no dropped frames, no glitches just plug in the camera, deck or drive and away you go.

Andy, thanks for this workflow. However I got stuck up on the "Restored Media" part. I never got the prompt to "Restore Media" like I sometimes did when I was testing SDHC cards. I expected a prompt when I put the card back into the EX1. Perhaps that was an invalid assumption based on your instructions.

When I tried to use the EX1 to view the transferred clips it didn't show any on the card.

I had to go into the Menu/Others/Clip/Update/Media(A) to make the EX1 see the clip. Apparently this looks through the media card and makes the necessary files or modifications to existing files in order for the EX1 to view the clips. That worked well.

That's puzzling!
I replaced the card in the camera, powered the camera up and was prompted to "Restore Media".

Why would my camera do that, and yours not?

Either way, I'm glad it worked for you.
