Merlin on a monopod

I was wondering if anyone thought about some kind of monopod type device to use with a heavy Merlin config.

My thinking is some kind of pole so I can rest the unit for stationary shots. If it had some kind of suspension/hydrolic foot it could also work live moving from a seated position to mobile situation without judder.

Anyone tried something like this?

I'm new to the Merlin world, but I built a small adapter that I've been able to mount onto my monopod.

I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but it's a simple way to connect the Merlin to the monopod via a quick release, with enough offset so the Merlin doesn't bang into the monopod.

I'll try to make some photos of the rig later today and post them here.

As promised, here's a page that shows some photos of the offset arm I made for using the Merlin on a monopod or tripod. The page shows the parts and fabrication details.
