Vegas, Windows 7 & Magic Bullet Looks

Hi there, quick question, has anyone been using Magic Bullet Looks on Windows 7 with Vegas 8? I was thinking of trying it out.

Chris Barcellos May 10th, 2009 01:51 AM

I just installed it tonight from my 7 Disk. Seems to work okay. Still slow to render.

32 or 64 bit? One of the reasons I want to upgrade to Windows 7 is because Magic Bullet doesn't work with Vista 64.

Thanks,
Aaron

It does work with Vista 64, I'm using it at the moment. It doesn't work with Vegas 8.1 though but 8c works fine on Vista 64 with MBL.

Vista 64 is not the issue with 32-bit plugins. The version of Vegas you use is! If you use any 32-bit version of Vegas on Vista 64, it will se Magic Bullet just fine. If you use any 64-bit version of Vegas (i.e. 8.1 or 9.0-64), Magic Bullet will NOT be seen.

There ARE some 64-bit plugins available. For example, all NewBlue plugins work as well as aav6cc plugin and virtually all of the scripting plugins.

I'll chime in here:

Magic Bullet works perfecty with Vista 64 bit.

You will find no advantages with Windows 7.

In addition, it will not be long before Windows 7 will be shutting down every two hours and then soon after wont' work at all unless (unless you hack it).

Then you will be stuck with going back to Viosta anyway.

Hi Jeff, which version of MBL are you using? I can't seem to make the following work:
- Windows 7
- MBL v1.1
- Adobe Prem CS3

Previous, I had been using it on WinXP is was working fine.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Wow, talk about an old thread...and boy was I wrong about Window 7, I love it, great OS. Anyway, I use Vegas, not PP, sorry couldn't be of more help.

I can't seem to get MBL to work with Vegas 64 on a 64bit system. MBL web site also says they do not support it. What did you do to make it work? Thanks.

Edward Troxel September 2nd, 2009 11:51 AM

MBL doesn't work with the 64-bit version of Vegas. It will work with the 32-bit version of Vegas on a 64-bit OS but not with the 64-bit version of Vegas.

Looks like there is a 64-bit version of Magic Bullet Looks on the way. Version 1.2.1 when released will be 64-bit.

You also have to have a compliant video card to install MBL. If you don't the installer won't let it install.

Yeah, for 8.1, according to that chart. I wonder if that page is out of date! I hope not: I'd love to have a 64-bit MBLooks!

Edward Troxel September 22nd, 2009 06:24 AM

Generally speaking... if it works in 8.1 it ought to also work in 9.0 64-bit.

Oh I don't disagree, Edward, if your comment was in fact a reply to my post.

What I meant, but maybe failed to make clear, is because 8.1 has been out for a long time, now superceded by a version and it's two revisions of Vegas Pro, then RedGiant's indication on rolling out a 64-bit version of MBLooks is maybe out of date, too. For instance, perhaps they had plans to develop 64-bit MBL for use in 8.1, but not anymore. But I hope that's not the case. If just this one plug-in -- a workhouse in my projects -- had a 64-bit version, I'd be very happy.
