Use 2 DVDs? (Or one dual layer?)

Seriously, you're really going to have to compress to get 3 hours onto a standard DVD (I'm assuming this is an SD DVD???) Otherwise, just render out to MPEG2 at the proper bitrate and you should be good to go!

For a 2 hr. DVD, try the following.
This assumes AC-3 audio at the default setting.
Since this is a long program, I'd use the 2-pass option as well.

Min: 2,828,000
Avg: 4,688,000
Max: 8,000,000

DVD is by its very nature standard definition. BD is the Hi-def version. I really wouldn't try and fit 3 hrs on a single layer Marcus, and as many MPEG2 compression programs don't go lower than 4 mbps, that makes a DVD hold about 2½ hrs tops.

You should use a Dual Layer DVD for the footage, to get the best possible picture quality when converting your HD footage down to a Mpeg 2 DVD you will only get about 1 Hour and forty minutes on a 4.7 Gig DVD... I have converted several in Vegas and thats usually the limit with the best settings...1 Dual Layer DVD will do the job with the best possible picture quality....
