According to MediaInfo, the "color primaries" and "transfer characteristics" are BT.709, and the "matrix coefficients" are BT.601, so it seems to me all the necessary info is appropriately flagged into the footage for correct decoding without any special tricks. Sony must be simply ignoring the flags.

In any case, manually applying in Vegas a 601->709 transformation with the channel blend filter (as I described earlier in this thread) fixes the color shift (at least to the naked eye...not sure if it's 100% accurate), so some sort of transformation *is* required.

Thanks, good to know I'm not the only one seeing this issue. I'm not sure what you mean about "mission critical" though. To my eyes, the color shift in the red bus in the examples I put on the first post of this thread is blatantly obvious. IMO, this is unacceptable. period.

Any suggestions as to how to raise this issue with Sony in addition to (useless?) customer support question are still appreciated...
