combining .veg files

Hi - I thought I heard that there was going to be a way to combine .veg files - so that you could import all the edits that you've done. Was I dreaming? Does anybody know how that could be done? I looked in the help files but couldn't find anything.

I suppose I could render all the stuff in the one, but I just want to transfer the clips into the other project - with the edits I've made so far.

thanks,
Milt Lee

If I understand you correctly, nested vegs is what you 're looking for.
For example, say you're working on a 5-part project.
Save each part out as a separate veg file (part1.veg, part2.veg, etc.).
When you're ready to assemble everything, start a new project (allparts.veg, import all 5 veg files and drop them on the timeline.
Any multi-track vegs are now reduced to 2 tracks (video & audio) but all the information is still there. If you right click on any veg file, you have the option to open it up for further editing. This starts a new copy of Vegas which allows you to make changes. Save it and your allparts project will update to reflect these changes.

I also found another way in the help files that I hadn't found before:

Merging Vegas Projects

Although you can now nest Vegas projects within other projects, there may be times that you want to merge two existing projects into a single project file.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Open two instances of Vegas software and open the projects you want to merge.

Switch to the project you want to merge and press Ctrl+A to select all events.

Click the Copy button .

Switch to the other instance of Vegas software and position the cursor at the point where you want to merge the project you copied in step 3.

Click the Paste button .

Click the Save button to save your merged project, or click Save As if you want to save the merged project with a new name.

You can also drag media bins from the Project Media window across two instances of Vegas software: drag a bin from one Project Media window and drop it on a bin in the other instance.
