Alignment will be pretty simple, the film attachment will be mounted to a case for the iPad. As long as the edge of the film attachment keys off the edge of the iPad case, the alighnment will be good enough.

The optics are designed such that there is sufficient tolerance to facilitate this. My optical design does not require sub-pixel alignment accuracy and still exhibits exceptional visual quality. If the physical alignment properties change over time, the image can be adjusted to account for this in a quick 'calibration procedure' that is built into the application.

This can, in theory work on the iPad2, but the resolution will be so low that I don't see the point. The sweet spot will be really tiny too. I believe just focusing on the latest iPad will make for a better product.
