Premiere CS3 needs to render every DVCPRO HD 720-25P file?

A friend of mine is about to edit a short we shot on a HVX200 in 720-25P. Neither of us has edited HD before, so this is a newbie question. He imported the mxf files from P2 cards to his PC, imported them in Adobe Premiere CS3. The project is 50P/25P, but every clip on the timeline needs to be rendered before we can watch it in full quality. Is this normal, or is the project setting wrong in this case? We do have some shots in 50P that we want to slow down to 25P, so we need a 50P compatible project, right?
The end result is supposed to be true 25P.

Maybe there are some obvious mistakes we can avoid instead of finding out in the end that the project settings should have been different...

You should be in a 25P projecct if that is your final output. Reinterpret the 50P clips at 25P, or slow them 50% in Premiere, and all frames will be used to calculate the resulting slowmo.

The problem is there seems to be no 25P setting for DVCPRO HD.
I just looked it up in the Adobe P2 workflow guide http://www.adobe.com/products/premie...kflowguide.pdf
I can't find a 25P setting for DVCPRO HD there either, only 50P.
Maybe he needs to update his version of CS3, I'm not sure.

I just installed the Premiere CS3 update 3.1.1. It doesn't offer a 25P preset for 720P, only 24P, 50P and 60P. You can manually change the 50P preset to a 25P timebase, which is what we did, otherwise the 25P material wouldn't play with the correct speed. However the problem is still there that every clip needs to be rendered before you can watch it in full quality.

... by the way it is possible to make a real 720/25P sequence, I found the solution in the user defined settings. However I still find it a little weird that there would be a preset by Adobe for every possible P2 setting, except for 720/25P (a very common setting).
