To Cineform or Not To Cineform

Just bought a Sony HVR-z7u and will be editing HDV. My Dell XPS is four years old, but was powerful at purchase - Pentium 4 3.2 GHz, 4gb RAM, 23" 1920 x 1200 monitor, 2 external & 2 internal HDs. Also added an 800 Firewire, for reasons unknown.

The question is what Cineform Aspect will do, and whether it is needed to enhance the above system. Thanks very much for any help.

Paul

Best way to find out is to try the fully functional 2-week trial.

I don't think you'll want to go back to editing natively in Premiere Pro after that :)

Paul, I'd still call that a pretty darn good computer! I'm not sure of the Cineform specs - if there's a trial, have fun!

That matches my development system, Aspect HD should work well on it.

Color correcting? Multiple tracks? Nested sequences? Get cineform.

Straight cuts, - no need.

Thanks

I appreciate the information very much, and it sounds like Aspect is a good way to go.
