Audio Skips

I'm using Cineform AVI files with P-Pro-CS3. about 75% of the time I have a few segments of audio that skips or lags when I playback. It happens more often when I playback the timeline via a large playback window (i.e. hitting the "~" key to open a large window). It's not all of my audio, just a few segments. Sometimes it skips and or lags and other times it plays normally.

I've tried deleting the auido and re-importing. I've also defragmented my hard drive.

Any ideas?

Thanks

What are the specs on your computer? Also where are your project files located.

Raid 10? It takes a min of 4 drives for Raid 10...
If all you have is 2 drive the only raid you can do is Raid 0 or raid 1. I would suggest doing Raid 0 as it will give you the most performance (though you should back up your data at a regular basis as there is no fault taulerance.)

For more information on raid check out this site: http://www.raid.com/04_01_00.html

Try that and see if that solves your problem.

Tim... This is not uncommon. I'm not sure of the finite root cause but it seems to happen to me and others when the system is taxed hard.

On my system it ultimately went away, and I'll be a monkey's bum if I know why for sure. You've probably done this but make sure that your's system's drivers, particularly the audio bits, are the latest. Failing that as a solution, start Windows in selective startup. It does solve problems.

When was the last time you defragged the hard drive? If your files are scattered all over the drive, performance takes a big hit as the heads hopscotch all over the place.
