CS4: quality issues

Hi,

Just upgraded to CS4. A lot of the news features are great. Such as multi-clip audio gain control and multi-clip effect removal.

However, the program has become very cpu demanding. I have a 3.6G dual-core and always edit in 30P DV. I did not have any problem playing back straight cuts on the timeline in CS3. With CS4, the clips cannot even playback smoothly at high quality on the timeline. The quality of rendered progressive clips are horrible. Obviously, it does not process the fields correctly in progressive. There is a remedy to this problem. By adding a "Level" effect to the clips, the field issue can be solved partially. More field problems in clip speed changes. I also found other issues such as titles flashing on and off in rendered files. I am going back to CS3 for now. I will let other users try it out thoroughly first. Too risky for me.

P.S. I edit in progressive. I don't know how it performs with interlaced footage.
