zigzag causing crash on start up

hi,
before i give up video production for life...
I recently posted this thread:
http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=60942
in which everyone was very helpful about a problem with my pc not capturing. Unfortunately nothing worked so all I could do was fully format. I've done that tonight and now it captures fine in windows media maker which it didnt do before. problem solved... I thought
I have now reinstalled premiere to double check that still captures fine (which I'm confident it will) however I cant get past the loading screen.
I'm using premiere 6.5 and when the text that tells you what is being loaded gets to 'zigzag' it locks up and I have to ctrl+alt+del out of it.
help a desperate man if you have any ideas?!

p.s-I also installed Avid and i thought they might be conflicting so I uninstalled this and deleted everything to do with it using a registry editing program but alas premiere still doesn't launch.
Thanks
David

note to self: do not get in a strop without fully researching something.
turns out it was the nimo codec pack causing the problem as I'm sure someone would have told me in no time!
