I tried auto, dv and hdv. no dice. I could not do anything yesterday but I'm going to work on it this weekend. I'm getting closer and closer.

This one is bugging me because its been virtually automatic for me. Maybe this was asked before, but is your OS XP, and are you upgraded to SP2 ?

Yes, I use XP SP2. I've been messing around with Premiere today and still no go. I'll show you step by step:
- Start Premiere Pro 2.0 (duh)
- Chose "NEW PROJECT"
- On "Load Preset" I chose "Adobe HDV 1080i (sony 50i)"
- On "cotum settings" there's 4 options and I left them all like they were, except "general" where in "editing mode" is set to "HDV 1080i". All I do is to click on "playback settings", and once there you have the option to choose and external device to export to...but the only options there are "dv 29.97i 720x480", "dv 25i 720x756" (this is the only one that is PAL), "dv 23.976 720x480" and "none". I tried them all and none of them work...well, it works to export to SD

Eureca! What just did it! I found out what I was doing wrong. I should leave the export output options in "none"! As soon as I did it and clicked "export to tape"...bang! There it was. Thanks for all the help, Chris.

One more question. I usualy keep a copy on tape, another one in a DVD and another with the main final edit file. In what format should I keep the MASTER? Avi, mpeg, etc? How about the compression? If it is not too much too ask could you post a quick step by step to exporting the final edited footage? Thanks!
