Encoding WMV in PPro 2.0
I was wondering if there was a way to create multiple audiences when encoding to a WMV format from PPro 2.0's Adobe Media Encoder.
In version 1.5 you could set different audiences in your file but in PPro 2.0, in the audiences section, the only selectable option is either compressed or uncompressed. It also says Kbps: Variable, without the possibility to alter it. That's it. At first I thought this meant it would create a file that would automatically scale to the proper size depending on the user's Internet connection, but it doesn't. I created a 1064kbps file and tried to stream it from the server with a 56k connection, it would try to stream the whole 1064kbps, no reajustments. Is it really possible Adobe has removed the ability to create audiences in PPro 2.0? That would seem like a huge step backward and I can't understand why they would ever do such a thing. I'm probably just missing something here, I just don't know what. |

Unfortunately I can't help, as I don't have Premiere Pro 2.0. However, I do want to ask: Are these files being uploaded to a Windows Media streaming server? I looked in the Help file for the Windows Media Encoder, and it appears that multiple-bitrate (MBR) files are only supported on a server running Microsoft Windows Media Services.
