Editing DVCPro HD in Premier Pro 2.0 at DVinfo.net

Hey guys, I have a fairly stupid question: Someone just sent me DVCPro HD 1080i60 footage in QT format, and I'm wondering what I need to do in order to edit it in PP2? I am able to import the files fine and get all of the properties, but the video comes up as white nothingness. Is there a codec for this? I don't necessarily need to edit in native DVCProHD.

Unfortuately there is not QT codec on the PC for decoding the MOV wrapped DVCPRO-HD data. If you can get the original MXF data that the camera recorded there are many more PC options.

Premiere Pro can't do anything with those files, but EDIUS or Avid XPress Pro 5.5 can read them. Apple has chosen to not make the DVCPRO-HD codec available on the PC. You need to use a program that has its own DVCPRO-HD codec, such as EDIUS Broadcast or AXP. Then you can export the files to a format that Premiere could read.

Or, go back to the Mac and have them export the files in a different format.

As David said, getting ahold of the original MXFs would give you the most options.

Thank you for the advice. If I go back to the Mac what format do you recommend I export to for the best usability in PP2? Motion JPEG perhaps?

The best format would be uncompressed. Short of that there's not really a good HD editing codec on PP2.0, is there? I haven't looked at Premiere since 6.0 so I don't know much about it, so I don't know if it has any editing codecs that work well for HD.
