Maximizing the workflow at DVinfo.net

Hi,

I have using Premiere Pro 2 with an AMD Dual 64 3800+ with 2gb, many Hd at 7200rpm, and a nvidia geforce 6600 LE graphic card. I edit almost exclusively HDV footage and I from what I read my my pc setup should be more than enough to edit HDV footage real time on the time line. The problem is that it's ALMOST realtime...but not quite. From time to time I get these small "bumps" (from lack of a better word) on the image. I don't know if there's anything that could give me a bit more speed. I'm thinking about buying more GB so that'll have 4gb instead of 2gb. I'm also considering buying a different graphic card...since I've been having very weird problems with this one for a long time (like the footage looks way darked on the premiere window but it looks normal when I play it in any media player). Anyway, maybe there's also some internal premiere settings that I might be missing. For instance, on "project settings" there's an option called "video rendering" where I can select among different formats (I have mine at "I-frame only mpeg-2") and right above you tick a little square where it says "maximum bit depth". I didn't have this marked. I suppose I should have, right. Well, it's stuff like this that I mean.
Any help will be appreciated.

Upgrade your CPU and GPU. Athlon X2 4400 and above should cut it, but 3800 can sometimes fall short (speaking from experience here). Also, try for at least nVidia 6600 GT for smoother playback. 2 GB of RAM is enough for Premiere itself.
