HD Edit to DVD
I recently completed a project of my kids using a sony HD camera. I captured and edited it in premier pro 2. I am having difficulty putting it on a DVD. My idea was I would edit and store the project in Premier HD files. I would downconvert it to view and burn the project now on regular DVD. Latter when blu-ray, HDDVD or whatever HD format became resonable for consumers, I would already have the project edited and would only need to reburn it to the new HD format. How or can you downconvert and burn the Premier HD files to a DVD?

You maybe better off buying a USB2/firewire external hard drive of 500 gigs or so and storing all your lossless .avi files there. Cheers,Robert |

Hey Robert,
Thanks for answering. I do have plenty of space I have an external E-sata raid box with 1T of space and hot swappable drives . So I guess I need to change over the Premier Pro files to AVI and burn that to DVD now and save my PP2 files for a latter date? Does Premier have an easy way to do that? I also have heard double layer discs might not work that well, Do you know if that is true. Any help will be appreciated. I am obviously new to this. Thanks |

I may have miss-interpreted earlier, I guess you want to down res your HD file to DV and then onto DVD, keeping the original HD for later. There are a great many potential ways to do this depending on your set-up and time constraints and much discussion on the DVinfo board. I am also researching on my own workflow and experimenting with different software solutions. Following are just a few of the threads dealing with this issue... Probably the first thread is the best .. http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=70792 and some more http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=89188 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=88362 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=89040 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=88456 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=85038 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=87541 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=87258 Re Blue Ray, not sure about this, though I am sure there would be a thread on this here somewhere. Cheers, Robert |
