Z1P mic settings
Hi,
just received a Z1P & I started playing with the mic settings. I used a Rode NTG1, the A1P's mike & an old Braun directional mic, all XLR. Is it just my imagination or is the built in Mic actually better than the externals ? It certainly sounded like it to my ears. anyone else feel that way or am I not setting the externals correctly. |

I don't think anyone would claim that the internal mics fitted to the Z1 cost more than a tenner a bucketfull, but even so they can give you a fairly pleasant stereo atmos track at times. Your NTG-1 should indeed sound smoother and have a far better bass response. So how were you doing your recording and listening tests?

Hi Tom,
thanks for the comment. I went by the manual & I suppose I still haven't spent enough time with the cam (only just got it). I used basic Sennheiser earphones & it sounded like as though the onboard mic is clearer & more sensitive. I have not yet worked out the differences between mic & line & + & -dB & mic nr on-off. Suppose I'll have to look at the manual more closely but so far I haven't found what mic nr etc. means. Probably just over eager as typical of a newbie playing with a new toy. lol. regards H |
