Sound edeting

I am working with movies mostly local documentaries. And shooting theaters, music and interviews... Filming with a Sony PSD150 and are using Premiere Pro for edeting... Like the edeting system very much and it works great for us. But my problem is the audio ;(

We are for the moment using a old external EQ when putting the movies out to VHS(from firewire) but that is a dumb solution since we can only make one soundpicture for the whole movie.. and a movice with both music, speaking and generally backgroundsound that dosent fit very well.. (and for our DVD productions its even worse since that never even pass a EQ or anything just the raw audio from the camera)

So my question is. Is there any plugin for premiere or even built in stuff? That i should be able to use for my needs... I know there is a build in EQ in Premiere Pro but my audio knowledge are very low... So some guides or something on how you should threat your audio would be very good to know of...

If someone have a sugestion please respond.. Thanks in advance

(I know my English is rather bad but i hope its clear what i mean anyway ;) )

I have no experience with Premiere, but among the lower-cost software video NLE's, Vegas has the most capable and easiest to use audio editing. If the original audio is recorded at a reasonable quality, there should be nothing that you couldn't handle for most projects with what Vegas has built-in.
(Just my opinion...)

yeah have been looking a bit into that software combined with Sound Forge and yeah it seems like a lot of functions but however i like Premiere much for the rest of my edeting so i would like to stay with that...

+ That i have very low experince with sound processing so if anyone know a site to learn more about how to process sound and that sort of stuff or even a book i would be very glad to know about it
