New AKG wireless
I was just noticing that AKGs new wireless system is diversity, UHF and BH has it listed for less than $500. Anyone had a chance to use one of these, that can give a report?

That's the one I saw. I guess it is not the camera mountable version of their newer system.

The models you are looking for are.
PR40 Diverity Receiver SO40 Snap on transmitter PT40 Pocket transmitter And most interesting The MP40. This is a very small (pen size) Transmitter with a built in omni lav mic, optomised for speech. Simply clip inside a jacket or shirt pocket and away you go. The lave is detatchable should you need to get it closer to the source. All the units are extremely compact, run on AAA batteries and look really neat. check them out at www.akg.com Look for PR40 in the products drop down list. I have placed a posting before, asking if any one has any practical experience of this range. I like the look of it. It cant be bad coming from AKG, can it???

It looks like this is primarily sold in the UK, not the US (from my Googling). Well, maybe they'll introduce it here soon.

Yikes, special order only, no returns, no picture even. Maybe I'll wait until it's on some dealers' shelves and some of my bro's in the DV community have tried it out. I've already spent too much money on mic systems that didn't live up to expectations (not that I'm saying that this one wouldn't, just too little info so far).
