shot gun mic and phantom power

I was wondering. I want to get the AT-897 now that will run off either phantom or the aa battery. Now if I use phantom, do I take off the adaptor that holds the battery or can I leave it on....basically I want to know if Ill be able to have enough room on the end for my shock mount to hold it without clipping onto microphone reciever area itself.
Thanks
Ryan

To take it off is not an option on the AT897
