Comparing AT Lavs: Cast your vote!
I'm about to get my first lav and I'm undecided between the AT831B and the AT899. The price difference isn't that great, though the AT831B seems to require alot more accessories. What is the main advantage of the AT899?
Thanks! |

I like the rich sound of the 899 and it comes with a herd of accessories.

I heard your AT899 sample and I'm very impressed too.

The 899 is WONDERFUL and comes with a great set of fasteners/attachments. Just did a shoot today with 4 899's and 2 831's. Takes a bit of work to get them to sound remotely similr.

I like the 899 sound and accessories also. Don't forget about size, it's easily 1/4 the size of the 803 and 831.
If you truly want a cardioid like the 831, then the new 898 could be considered but I haven't heard any reports. It is a little longer but the same diameter. |
