Mackie and Digidesign 002

What are the differences between Mackie Control and Digidesign 002 ??? Can they be used on the field and studio ???

The 002 requires AC power. I have recorded on location with it a laptop and an external Firewire drive.

If you need USB or battery power in the field, you're stuck with 2 inputs, in which case I'd recommend an Mbox.
