Clips in Vegas and Acid

Hello,
I just downloaded a few clips from the loops on demand from Sony. I open the .wav files and listen to them in windows media player and everything sounds normal. As soon as I open them in Vegas or Acid, they play much faster and there is some serious reverb going on. I'm not sure why, or how to fix that. Thanks!!

Try changing the tempo.

I'm not sure how to change the tempo in Vegas? Or why it would want to make it faster than it is in the first place? I pulled it up in Sound Forge (I have a trial of that) and it plays at the correct speed. But when I open the .wav in Vegas or Acid it doesn't seem to want to. I did change the tempo in Acid, but there was still some kind of echo with it.

I went to the Audio tab under Preferences in Vegas and unchecked "Import audio at project temp". Seemed to work.
