Recording gunshots with Zoom H4n / 7D?

Hi!

Has anyone recorded gunshots with H4n or 7D? I don't have H4n yet, but I read the user manual and noticed it has H4n has compressor/limiter, so I'm intrested in how it would work with sharp and very loud sounds like gunshots.

I will do a video for sound suppressor manufacturer. Last time we used a Canon HV20, its otherwise awful auto gain control actually worked really well with gunshots, as it reacts fast enough not to let the sound distort, and the result was quite good. But this time I'd do the video with 7D, so the audio needs some changes too.
