Need Help!: Question for anyone with a Rode Video Mic, and/or a GR-HD1

I just got my Rode Video Mic today, however when I plug it into my GR-HD1 I notice that the internal speakers on the GR-HD1 are still on. I don't know if they are suposed to turn off but they are picking up a lot of unwanted noise around the camera , and the cameras hum from the mechanics.

My second problem is that I wonder if my internal mic may be damadged because it produces a lot of noise that sounds very grainy and annoying....

I'll post some audio some without the rode videomic, and some audio with the rode videomic if someone can direct me to an area to upload my sound files.

Thanks,
Mark Light

odd.
normally on most cameras, when you plug a mini-jack in, it automatically shuts off the input from the internal mic. (although i'm not familiar with your camera).
Try searching thru the camera manual / menu's to see if there is a way to tell the camera to disable internal mic.

nope

I don't see any options for turning off the onboard audio in the manual. It's so frustrating because I get this horrible crackling sound.
