No Audio With Mic GL2

I recently purchased a hand held mic to attach to my GL2 which plugs into the mic jack... I was doing interviews at a reception last weekend using the mic but when I edited the footage the sound did not record on the DVD or VHS...I have no audio on the DVD or VHS when the mic is plugged in, However before saving the final footage to DVD or VHS I have Audio.

Help! what did I do wrong?

Let's back up for a moment. Do you or don't you have audio on your tape?
If so, it makes me wonder if you rendered your audio to MPEG 2 audio, which most players can't read. Audio on a DVD should be either AC3 or PCM.

Start back at the tape/editing timeline....do you have audio there?
