Studio One’s signature reverb has been maintained at 2.3 seconds by leaving the room’s Art Deco walls from the Seventies untouched. Technological upgrades have instead been made in the control room, where a Neve 88RS channel console has been installed to capture a more “immersive” sound from performers.

Studio One was originally equipped with an SSL G Series console in 1984. This SSL console was starting to show its age, especially for film scoring and classical recordings. They installed a Neve console in early 2011. The new Neve 88RS, coupled with the SP2 scoring panel, is a well-regarded solution for film scoring, and it's found in many top Hollywood scoring stages.

So what is the SP2? This panel facilitates the creation of stems, which are individual recordings of instruments or groups of instruments within a track. It offers more comprehensive control over the scoring console's routing and routing capabilities, enabling engineers to isolate and manipulate individual tracks or groups of tracks. The panel was developed in consultation with leading film scoring engineers, ensuring its features and capabilities are tailored to the needs of film scoring. And especially when they’re mixing Dolby Atmos soundtracks.
