scene ambience

I have a scene that I'm working on that has two characters on a sofa talking with a basketball game on television in the background. Does anyone have any ideas where I can get some audio for this basketball game. I thought about recording one that comes on TV but it would be illegal. Any suggestions?

Thanks....

Ymca

Go to the YMCA with a portable DAT and record one of their local games - even a walkman should be OK seeing it's going to be coming from the TV...

Would I have to get permission to use the audio?

Which audio, the original from the TV or audio you record yourself at someplace like the "Y"?

Contact one of the small radio stations around your town and ask to get some of thier game tape and if you can use it in your project. I worked at a small station that did high school games and we were always accomidating to folks wanting our work, usually you have to pay for the tape or disc. The bonus is that you already get that broadcast degraded sound like you get from your TV.

Jamie that is a GREAT idea. Can't believe I didn't think of that. I even have a friend that works at a local station here. I'll try it......
