In that scenario I'd hand the talent a dynamic or battery powered condenser stick mic to hold in their hand or put a lav mic on the talent that has a battery power supply built into the cable such as the Audio Technica 803 or use a wireless lav. (A little time looking at the lavs on B&H will turn up a number of candidates). I'm of the opinion that when recording speech, an on-camera mic should be used as an absolute last resort only when all other options have been exhausted and the only other option left would be to record nothing at all. |
