GS delayed, need advice for lav in a hurry

I just learned that the Giant Squid I ordered last week won't arrive in time for the wedding I'm shooting Saturday or the seminar I was just booked to shoot on Sunday (the first of what is intended to be a DVD series on landscaping). Now I'm scrambling to come up with a workable alternative to plug into my iRiver.

Does anyone have any suggestions? My budget is now very limited and time is running out! Anything is better than nothing, and even some crap from Radio Shack could get the job done I suppose.

Please help me or I'll be finished before I even get started with this!

Any mic with an adapter to 1/8 inch plug will work in the stereo mode (With a mono plug it will only record on one track). The main advantage of the Giant Squid is that it is wired so that it will also work in mono.

What do you need to connect the mic to? Camera, iRiver, audio mixer or recorder?

Buddy, yes, I'm aware that any 1/8" connector mic would work. I was wondering if anyone had specific suggestions on a mic that might be better that others, or just advice to stay away from something because it is utter crap.

Steve, as I said, it is going into an iRiver.

Bill,

I have three Sony lavs for use with my UHF wireless's. You're close by, just 183 miles, so if I drop one or more in the mail you would probably get them tomorrow. Then Just send them back Monday.

Interested?

Drop me an email right away if you are interested.

Mike
