				Mixpre, Sennheiser ew112 and phantom

Sound Devices' Mixpre seems like the perfect tool for my next project. There is just one setup that gives me a headache: A Sennheiser G2 Wireless unit on one channel and a P48 Shotgun on the other. As the phantom on/off switch applies to both channels I would feed the G2 receiver with P48. Is there a problem? Martin |

Hi Martin, This shouldn't be a problem...I've used mine a couple of times with the Senny wireless and forgotten to turn the Phantom power off... As they don't need it is doesn't pose a problem... The manual states that mics that don't use phantom power won't draw power from the unit, but that it isgood practice to switch it off... In your case you don't have and option, but I'd guess only the P48 mic would draw power. Cheers Gareth |
