mini35 pkg weight (charles?)

Sorry if this has been asked before but couldn't find it on the Search: how much does your average mini35 pkg weigh, let's say with a DVX100A, Zeiss prime (no giant zooms) and LCD on top. Curious b/c I just bought an O'Connor Ultimate DV head (max wgt 18lbs) and am wondering if it can balance this load. Thanks!

Congrats on your purchase, Peter, I'm an O'Connor fan (own a 1030 and a 2575 myself). The setup you described should weigh in around 16 lbs, so you are OK.

Thanks Charles, relieved to know I am covered. Yes, I can't wait to get my new head and tripod (gets here Monday, just in time for a shoot). It's great that O'Connor offers a full-featured entry-level model for those of us who don't want to drop 11gs on a 2575. It will be interesting to see how this little head stacks up against its bigger brothers. Thanks again for the info,

Peter

Just a little note on head capacity ratings born from personal experience.

When a manufacturer gives a weight rating for the head it is based on an arbitrary center of gravity for a camera. As the center of gravity of the camera increases (taller camera) the less of the rating you get. Some manufacturers have graphs that show this, so you can get a specific rating for a specific CG. I believe O'connor is one of them.
