Ground Glass and Compression Artifacts

Hi all,

Planning to shoot some stand-ups with an HD-100/P+S/Cooke set-up, and output to DVD, which demands MPEG-2 compression.

I understood that the ground glass in the Technik added what looks like a slight grain-filter to the image, which subtle in its own right, but capable of causing mayhem with compression algorithms, leading to all sorts of unwanted artifacting in the final release.

But I also understood this could be controlled. Does anyone out there have more information on this front?

Many thanks,

Alex
