Hi,

I'm coming to Hollywood for few seminars Oct. 21- Nov 8

I'm getting ready for my second feature.

I'm award wining director, shooter and editor for corporate work - Bayer Canada.

I'm interested in helping first time filmmakers, actors, screenwriters to get from "getting ready to get ready" mode to move your behind and just freaking do it.

I'll help you to put puzzle together even if you have full time job, kids and nagging spouse who tells you to find a real job:)

Thanks
Mike

We are looking for someone to shoot little league football for the next six (6) saturdays. We have all equipment needed - we need the shooter. The games usually start at 9am and go till late evening. When the sun goes down at sunset, I usually transition from photography to shoot video - so your day is done. Pay starts out at $150 for the day - and can be renegotiated for good quality shooting.

This is not for someone that has X+ years shooting for Fox Sports with a full day rate!

Wish I could help Doug. I am booked with my daughter's cheerleading and marching band on Saturdays on the other side of town. ;)

You might check with your local high school (McEachern, Lassiter, whichever) and see if they have some video/film kids that want to do it. I will be using one for a band project. That pays well for a high school gig!

I am a college student and interested in shooting and editing videos. I am very new to this field and I would like to get my hands-on experience whenever possible. I reside in Cerritos, Southern California.

If anyone is shooting a short film, music videos, or a wedding, I would love to go out and hang out with you!! :)
I like to be your assistant and help you out as much as possible for not charge.
I just want to help out and watch you shoot the videos- learn how the initial setup works, screenwriting, shooting at different angles and all that good stuff.

If you have a project that is coming up and need an assistant that is well-mannered, dress formal (if necessary), and quick on feet, please let me know. You can locate my email on the bottom. Thanks for the time.

Hi Kevin,

Yes - depending on time

It's good to have idea where do you have problems so I know if I can help you and we are not wasting time.

I can't talk about financing because I used my credit card, which is fastest way to go with lowest limit :)

Hello Virginia! I'm a director at WTKR the CBS affiliate in Norfolk. I play around a lot at home on my G5 using Final Cut HD, Photoshop CS, and After Effects. I'm always trying to learn more and get involved with people trying to challenge themselves and come up with interesting projects to do. As of today I'm in the market for a Canon GL2 or XL1, whichever one I can get someone to sell me first. Until then I don't have a lot of "completed" projects or clips to put on your reel. Anywho, it's nice to know we got some guys around interested in some of the same things. I hope to hear from some of you in the future.

P.S. Be sure to post any of your work in the 'DV for the Masses' section of this forum. There aren't a lot of vidoes from our area in there.

About me:
I am a professional photographer (still) that specializes in
shooting Martial Arts, both schools and mostly competitions
accross the country.
www.onaimaging.com

I am very well known in this vertical market and respected
as a professional. I also shoot, quite a bit, NHL Hockey including
the NJ Devils.

I both live and house my studios in Freehold, NJ (Central NJ)
and I am a single father to an 8 year old boy that lives with
me. (He just received his brownbelt)

I also own a Large format/Fine Art business that is doing quite well.
www.onaprinting.com

Equipment
Many Apple Mac's, large HD Displays (Apple) laptops (G4) and
all lic. software.
On the imaging side I own 11meg cameras (Canon), Hasselblad (med format), proper lighting etc...
Also, for the large format printing side I own a HP5500ps 60" 7 color
awesome printer.

New Business (possible partnership)

To scale my Photography business and add new services I'm beginning
to explore HDV. Now, NO ONE is filiming the Martial Arts competitions in
HD and there are simply 100's of market opps coming about including
working with some networks. (Cable)

I have quite a number of relationships on the high level in this market
and am already discussing HD filming the largest Martial Arts competition
in the US for 2005.

Now, while I understand Photography and imaging, I'm simply a novice
in HDV and film but I'm learning fast. I now own the JVC 10U and have
already begun my ed in filming and editing. I do have quite a way to go.

But to enter the market quickly I may need to partner with someone
(You?) that has the SOLID skills on that end and is a Professional with
a proven and respect track record. Sorry, I can't partner with anyone
just new to the market or a novice at this time.

Are you interested? Do you have the professionalism that is demanded
in a vertical market that is all about respect?

By the way, one thing that business has exposed me to, Money (funding) is
pretty easy IF you have the business plan, the numbers and market make sense and the Management team is rock solid.

Thanks for reading.
Very best,
Tom

Hello Tom,
So, to summarize: You are a professional still photographer specializing in shooting martial arts events. You bought a JVC HDV camera and suddenly see potential to expand into video services. You want to partner with an experienced videographer specializing in high-definition (or HDV) production. The goal would presumably be to quickly add video production to your services?

Tom Aellis
September 30th, 2004, 11:54 AM
Ken, almost correct.

I did not "Sudenly" see potential.

I purchased the JVC after exploring this market with a number of
my clients and doing my own DD.

I'm no dummy, I've been priv'd to be with some of the
most sucessful mgt teams in the world including helping
build the second largest IPO in Nasdaq's history. (NOT a founder)

thanks for writting Ken.
Very best,
Tom

Ken Tanaka

Tom,
Sorry for the chicken/egg error.

Well, let's see, the largest IPO I know of would have been the AT&W Wireless IPO in 2000, although AWE is listed on NYSE, not Nasdaq. The largest Nasdaq-listed IPO might have been the recent Google offering at around $2.7 bil.

Hi,
I'm a filmmaker from Bombay in the early stages of pre-production for my first film. A 2 hour feature film to be shot on the XL2 PAL.
Looking for a DOP who has worked extensively with the digital medium and can translate my vision with XL2 while making it look like Film. My Final output would be on Film.

Being a rather Low-budget feature, at the moment all I can offer is a Flight Ticket along with reasonable accomodation and food.
Will try my best to get a token amount going too. The duration will be around 45 days. (20-25 days of shooting).

The period I am looking at is December-January.

Would request those interested to contact me at zsl_12@hotmail.com with the subject saying :DOP.

Any Queries could also be addressed on this thread.

thanks,
Zohar.

PS: Shooting in India can be as exhilirating or as frustrating as you would like it to be. It all depends how adaptable you are to the situation. The resources for DV film-makers can be a scarce out here. On the bright side...labour comes cheap and so do raw materials....so building resources if one has the knowledge can be quite pain-free

Dylan Couper

If you are looking at attracting someone to travel halfway across the world to DP for you, you might want to give some idea about what the film is about. :)

Another thing you might want to consider is the dates you have chosen. Most people in North America will be celebrating holidays in December, and will probably want to be here with family during that time. Your offer intrigued me, up until I got to the December/January timeframe, as I have family commitments here.

Dylan Couper

Wanted - someone to add in high quality gunfire effects in a short video.

Requirements/experience: No experience needed! This is a chance for someone with no experience to show their stuff. Although it is shot on miniDV, this is a professional level project, and professional quality effects are needed. We'll need to see a sample of your work, or alternately we can give you a test clip to do a sample effect on.

Payment: Deferred pay project, meaning you don't get paid until the overall project makes money. However, even if it doesn't make a penny, your work should still get seen by a TV audience, and it is a project that you can use on your demo reel.

Location: You can be worldwide. The avi clips can be FTP'd to you.

Details: There are probably about 10 different clips that need to have muzzle flashes added. In each clip there are multiple flashes from rapid fire.

E-mail me for more details at the_klenzer@hotmail.com

Thanks!

Folks.

I have about 300 individual medium format film of my wedding that I want transfer them to DVDs or CDs.

Does any one know any place here in Northern Viriginia that provide that service or maybe some where on the web that can get this done?

I've looked at some meidium format scanner but they cost 2k plus that I can't afford.

Thanks

To give you an idea.
The Film titled 'PotLuck' is a two hour DV feature in English.
The Film serves as an analogy to the ironies of life where you never know what comes to the table. 'PotLuck' consists of Four stories of nine people, all interlinked through a series of PotLuck Dinners.
Set in the Urban Landscape of Mumbai, the film offers a refreshing look at the lives of nine people all strugling with their own demons.

Dylan, the reason I'm considering December is
!) The city is lit up like crazy and I can get my exterior shots quite beutifully without the added expense. Christmas is part of the script.
2) Come Feb and Bombay start heating up. Its hot sticky very very humid and shooting can be quite exhausting...especially for someone who's not used to the weather.
3) I do not mind looking at Jan, but I'd still like my DOP to be here atleast a fortnight before shoot. And I want to finish shooting before Feb. I have a lot of Festival Deadlines to keep.

Keith, where can I see your work?

Doug Puckett

Im in Abingdon which is near the TN/VA line. Nice to see other Virginians here, wish I could hook up with you all on the east side......

Hi All,

This should be a really great course for anyone
looking to make a low-budget film on DV. We've
basically made all of the mistakes and done all of the
research for you. The time and money you'll save not
having to make 50-million trips to Home Depot and slog
through bulletin boards for answers to obscure
questions will make this course well worth the cost.

Class size is limited, so definitely sign up early.
Again, I highly recommend any indie filmmakers in the
Baltimore/DC area come out for this course!

Thanks,

One more Instant Films this year--seems like just yesterday we had our August festival. This one is the 3rd annual Halloween festival; the previous ones have been fantastic.

OK, so who do I need? Looking for a boom person (gear is provided) who knows how to get clean tracks (we are shooting on the DVX100a). Also anyone interested in grip/electric. This would be for this upcoming weekend, Saturday the 9th.

No money, nope. Instant Films is a 48 hour filmmaking festival; the goal of the whole thing is to foster creativity and make the best films in a weekend. The screening is a lot of fun; there's drinks and cute girls (if you happen to be a girl reading this, I guess there's plenty of cute guys too) and awards and all that.

Visit the website (www.instantfilms.tv), see what you think.
