Is it just me who cannot playback Cineform files on VLC player?
View Full Version : VLC doesn't play Cineform Michael Mann September 27th, 2007, 01:31 PM Is it just me who cannot playback Cineform files on VLC player? Dmitry Yun September 27th, 2007, 02:26 PM Nope VLC doesn't have the codec it just plays sound and no video correct? I think Media Player is the best way to go to view Cineform files. I also used Nero DVD player that works as well. Hernan Vilchez September 27th, 2007, 04:34 PM bs player doesnt work good, it hungs media player is a bit disturbing... have the 10 version some tip please? David Newman September 27th, 2007, 04:51 PM Media Player Classic -- it is the best. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Media_Player_Classic.htm Richard Leadbetter September 28th, 2007, 02:52 AM VLC only decodes with its internally supported codecs - it's not the fault of CineForm, it's because VLC doesn't use the DirectShow decoders CineForm installs. As previously mentioned, Media Player Classic offers superior performance than the standard media player. Michael Mann September 28th, 2007, 04:55 AM Media Player Classic -- it is the best.[/url] A second that, David, that's the player I prefer to use. I really love it. I was just interested why VLC doesn't play Cineform. The only drawback is that Media Player Classic seems to be no longer updated. David Newman September 28th, 2007, 10:52 AM VLC doesn't use DirectShow or VideoForWindow APIs, it only includes decoders that are open source or have public source reference decoders. Media Player CLassic got a new update 10 days ago. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Media_Player_Classic.htm Michael Mann September 28th, 2007, 11:08 AM Thank you very much for the link. That's good news. Hernan Vilchez September 30th, 2007, 05:45 AM Ive downloaded at the link David gave, run the Media Player Classic 6.9.1 and the player just doesnt play at all any CFHD AVIs. David Newman September 30th, 2007, 09:29 AM Ive downloaded at the link David gave, run the Media Player Classic 6.9.1 and the player just doesnt play at all any CFHD AVIs. It works fine, you need to install, or reinstall you CineForm software. Richard Leadbetter September 30th, 2007, 09:32 AM If you're using an nVidia card make sure the overlay settings are set correctly. If the AVIs work in Windows Media Player, there is no reason whatsoever for Media Player Classic not to run them as they basically use the same DirectShow filters to decode. |
