Marc Colemont November 14th, 2007, 04:57 AM Is your Phantom Suppy turned on. You Mic may need the 48V to operate properly.
Paolo Ciccone November 14th, 2007, 11:33 AM Also check the monitor level, too high can generate quite a bit of noise
Liam Hall November 14th, 2007, 12:44 PM Also, check your record levels and make sure the air con is off!
Joseph A. Benoit November 14th, 2007, 10:49 PM Hello
I found out what is causing the hum, its not a hum
the mic picks a vibration from the Dr 100 or could be the drive running in the dr100
the mic is great the sound is rich and full
I guess i'll have buy a Rodes SM5 mic holder
because as soon as you unscrew the 110 mic holder the noise goes away
If you have any better ideas please me know
thanks
Joe
Joseph A. Benoit November 15th, 2007, 02:41 PM Hello
i called Rodes today
the Sm5 is for a boompole only
the shaft on the SM5 is not long enough to mount to the camera mic mount
if i was shooting just tape it would be fine
so be it. have to find another way
thanks
Joe
Sean Adair November 16th, 2007, 08:45 AM there are quite a few effective isolating microphone holders that could screw into the 1/4" thread hole on top of the handle. With some intermediate hardware, the front light shoe could also be an option. It will be bulkier and more delicate that the standard rig - which I'm surprised isn't more readily removable/replaceable.
You might try sandwiching in extra insulation there, and also looking at the mount rig for the DR-HD100 - what type of bracket are you using?
On camera mics are a compromise, but sometimes a necessary one.
Joseph A. Benoit November 16th, 2007, 09:15 AM Hello Sean
i tried sandwiching foam didn't work
Sean is there a website were i could see the diff/mic holders that i could use
on my 110
i use the IDX bracket for the Dr 100 holder
thanks
Joe
Alex Humphrey November 16th, 2007, 02:02 PM I've got the Rode fishing pose/camera mount from BH ($49) works great. I don't have a hard drive.. but zero (BIG ZERO) noise (finger, tripod, control mevoment) is transfered to the mic. the mount fits in the hot shoe... I tried the mic without the mount and yes, lots of control noises and whirling etc. so I think it will work fine. I got mine as part of a kit i think.. but I think it was about $49 just by it's self. well worth it.
Joseph A. Benoit November 18th, 2007, 12:56 PM Hello
I called B&H and ordered the RODES SM5 SHOCK MOUNT
The guys from pro video dept saids it will work.
I'm hoping that it will stop the drive noise/vibration from the DR 100
I'll let you know how it works out
Changing the subject:
Have any of you that own the 110/200/250
had the little mic wire clamp in back and below the mic holder
BREAK.
I've gone though 2 of them. I BABY this Camera
its seem to me if they were made with a thicker plastic they would not break so easy
i checked the price on them from JVC $16.98 (WOW)
Just wondering

Joseph A. Benoit November 26th, 2007, 07:49 PM Hello
got the Rodes SM5 mic holder for my ntg-1
no more hum no more noise
check out the pictures
Its a tight fit on the mic clamp/ holder if i could get a bigger JVC clamp i would
but it works great
THANK YOU
Joe
Joseph A. Benoit November 26th, 2007, 09:10 PM Got the rode SM5
Joseph A. Benoit November 26th, 2007, 09:17 PM Hello is there some reason that my NTG-1 thread is not showing up on the
JVC PRO HD ACQUISITION SYSTEM POST
Marc Jayson November 28th, 2007, 04:32 AM I see this post
Joseph A. Benoit November 29th, 2007, 01:51 PM Hello
iv'e change the cylindrical mount adapter on the SMD 5 suspension
its made of steel and very heavy and being that its 1.06 inchs in diameter
its was alot of strand on the mic holder/clamp
I went to home depot and got dowel 7/8 diameter same as my Rodes NTG-1
fits perfect in the mic holder line up the holes on the SMD5 suspension
mark em on the dowel and
drill the holes
I just uses the screws that came with the unit
i painted the dowel so it matches the rodes supension mic holder
what a difference , no more pressure on the jcv mic holder.
if i was just using tape no problem but with the Dr hd100
all kinds of noise
heres some pics
Joe
Robert Castiglione November 30th, 2007, 12:31 AM Thanks Joseph for your posts on the mic holder issue. I ended getting the same suspension and it is very robust and works well on the camera.
Rob
Joseph A. Benoit November 30th, 2007, 01:10 AM Hello Rob
