Happy Thanksgiving!

I have taken a Hi8 tape, captured it to MiniDV, re-captured to individual AVI files, added color correction, brightness and contrast, and NeatVideo noise reduction in Vegas 6.0.

Now I am ready to render.

I have done this several other times but keep having various issues.

After rendering, I will move the files into Ulead MovieFactory to export to DVD.

So, after doing lots of researching, there is quite a difference of opinion on how to best render in Vegas.

My question:

Would you go with the default or would you custom render?

Up till now, I have rendered to AVI (default settings).

If you would custom render, what would be your settings?

This is a wonderful website, by the way, and thanks for any response that comes.

Is there a reason you're not using DVD Architect?

Each clip is less than 10 minutes.

But what's the total length of the video?
We need to know that to be able to give you the proper bitrate.

However, since this is a Vegas forum , you'll find that a lot of us are more familiar with it than other apps.

Total length of video is 40 minutes.

VBR (what I'd use): 8,000,000 / 8,000,000 / 4,800,000
CBR: 8,000,000

Use the default AC-3 setting for audio.
Use the "DVD Architect NTSC video" template for video but customize it by clicking the word "Custom" (next to the render options) and then the "Video" tab.
Select either CBR or VBR and enter the above numbers.
You can save this as a preset if you want to.

Make sure both files have the same surname (i.e. myvideo.ac3 and myvideo.mpg) and go into the same folder.
That way, when you import the video file into DVD Architect, the audio file will follow automatically.
